Brian Tracy says success is predictable

Brian Tracy has studied success for over 40 years and has studied and coached thousands of super achievers. His analysis suggests that success is completely predictable and his reasoning is simple and fair.

If you go into the kitchen to cook a dish, and the very first thing you get is a recipe, and you follow the recipe, and you work with the recipe, eventually you will master that dish.

Once you’ve mastered it and made it a few times, you can make the dish again and again and you’ll remember the recipe. You don’t need to go back to the cookbook.

Now if someone says, boy, that’s really delicious, you’re not saying right, it’s a miracle like something out of voodoo. No, you just followed a proven recipe that was developed by people before you.

And that’s basically the secret to success. If you want to be successful in starting a business, you study what people have learned. And whatever people learned, they wrote down or shared in seminars, or put on audio programs.

I learned this from a very wise man named Cob Cobmeyer, who spent over 50 years studying success. He had developed over 1,000 principles of success which he had taken from something like 6,000 books.

When I met him, I asked him the question you would ask. Of all these thousand principles, which is the most important principle of all? And he said, “it’s simple, use proven methods.”

Learn from the experts because you’ll never live long enough to learn everything on your own. So what I find is that successful people are those who learn from others who have gone before them.

Unsuccessful people try to make it all up, like a cook who walks into the kitchen, pulls ingredients out of the cupboard, throws them all in a bowl and wonders why it doesn’t taste good.

This is why 80% of salespeople perform well below their potential. Only 20% make all the money. This is why 20% of companies in any industry make all the profits, why 20% of professionals in any department make 80% of the money, and so on.

It’s because they follow proven success principles, proven recipes, proven formulas, proven combinations, and repeat them over and over again until they’ve mastered them. Then they can do more and more, faster and faster, more and more easily, at a higher level of quality.

Duplicating the efforts of successful people in order to achieve equal or similar results is an ancient Greek formula for success that always produces exceptional results for anyone who uses it.
