The secret ingredient
Typically, celebrity chefs and anyone with the necessary cooking skills will not part with an accurate full list of ingredients and/or method to replicate a recipe for a popular dish. The reasons are many. The acclaimed dish can be a centerpiece of the restaurant menu. The preparer believes that he or she can write a cookbook, and that this particular dish might warrant a value in the book. Perhaps the recipe is a family recipe, passed down from an ancestor (Aunt Lucy).
“Who am I to give Aunt Lucy’s gift to our family?”
But, there are chefs and meal preppers who seem willing to part with the ways and means of crafting a coveted dish, but they won’t tell you that they deliberately omitted or misrepresented a detail. No. Better for the conceited to omit a single supporting ingredient (a secret ingredient).
“Looks like your dish, but it doesn’t taste the same,” your admirer said. You suggest there was a lot of humidity that day. don’t dare to suggest “Go ask your grandmother to teach you how to cook!” After all, your admirer suffers because of you.
